Setting Up Advanced Vehicle Configuration

The Advanced Configuration section lets you configure additional assignment rules for each vehicle, including Vehicle Options and Maximum Active Shipments, to better control how vehicles are selected and used during planning.

How It Works

When auto-dispatch runs in the Planning module, the Routing Engine considers each vehicle’s advanced configuration—such as configured Vehicle Options and the Maximum Active Shipments limit—when selecting and assigning vehicles to shipments.

These settings help control vehicle eligibility and workload, ensuring assignments align with your operational requirements.

Important Note

Advanced Configuration settings are only applied during automatic assignment in the Planning module.

During manual assignment, configured Vehicle Options and Maximum Active Shipments limits are always overridden.

Maximum Active Shipments

This setting defines the maximum number of shipments a vehicle can handle per route during assignment, helping you control workload and prevent over-assignment during planning.

You can configure this setting for a single vehicle by editing its individual configuration

You can also configure it in bulk across multiple vehicles to apply the same limit consistently

Vehicle Options

Vehicle Options define the special capabilities or equipment a vehicle has, such as a heater, cooler, freezer, lift, narcotics handling, POS machine, or driver assistance.

A vehicle can have one or multiple options assigned, depending on its capabilities.

These options are matched directly against order requirements, ensuring each shipment is handled by a properly equipped vehicle.
