How It Works
Vehicle costs let you define a standardized cost structure for each vehicle. FleetRunnr’s cost-based routing engine uses these costs as weights when planning and generating routes, helping determine the most efficient assignments.
Important Note
Vehicle costs are only used by the Routing Engine in the Plans module during auto-dispatch. They influence how vehicles are selected and utilized when shipments are assigned automatically.
If you are assigning shipments manually, these cost configurations will not have any impact.
Available Vehicle Costs
Available vehicle costs include:
Fixed Cost: A base cost for using the vehicle, regardless of how many shipments it completes. Increasing it reduces how often the vehicle is used.
Cost per km: The cost of distance traveled. Increasing it makes the system favor shorter routes and closer assignments.
Cost per Travel Hour: The cost of time spent in transit. Increasing it makes the system favor faster routes over longer ones.
Cost per Stop: A cost applied per stop. Increasing it reduces the number of stops assigned to a vehicle.
Cost per Waiting Hour: The cost of idle or waiting time. Increasing it reduces idle time and unnecessary waiting.
Cost per Service Hour: The cost of time spent servicing stops (e.g., loading/unloading). Increasing it reduces time spent at stops.
Incremental Cost: When enabled and configured, increasing it encourages the system to assign shipments to vehicles that have not yet been used, helping distribute work across more vehicles.
Configuring Vehicle Costs for One Vehicle at a Time
When configuring costs for a single vehicle, you define how that specific vehicle is evaluated during planning and auto-dispatch.
Configuring Vehicle Costs in Bulk (Multiple Vehicles)
You can configure costs in bulk to apply the same cost structure across multiple vehicles at once, ensuring consistency and saving time.
Note:
When multiple vehicles are selected, the cost fields will appear blank. This is intentional and does not indicate missing data. Because vehicles may have different cost configurations, the system cannot display a single value.
Any cost value you enter will override the existing configuration for all selected vehicles.
Cost fields that are left unchanged will retain their current values.
