Adding Vehicles to Groups

This article explains how to add vehicles to one or more groups from the Vehicles page.

Updated this week

Why Use Vehicle Groups

Vehicle groups help you organize your fleet based on operational needs, making filtering, planning, and assignments more efficient.

You can group vehicles by type, delivery zone, service type, or operational role (e.g., third-party, seasonal, or client-dedicated).

Identifying the Right Vehicles

Before adding vehicles to a group, it’s recommended to first narrow down the list to the exact vehicles you want to include, ensuring accurate and organized grouping.

You can do this by using the search bar or applying filters to refine the list based on specific criteria.

How are Vehicles Added to Groups

Vehicles can be added to groups in two ways, based on whether you’re assigning one vehicle or several vehicles at the same time:

  • Individual Assignment – Best used when adding or updating a single vehicle’s group.

  • Bulk Assignment – Best used when assigning multiple vehicles to a group or updating several vehicles at once.

Adding a Vehicle to a Group (Individual Assignment)

Use the step-by-step guide below to learn how to add an individual vehicle to a group.

Note: Vehicles can also be assigned to a group during the initial creation process when adding them to your workspace.

Adding Multiple Vehicles to a Group (Bulk Assignment)

In this method, all selected vehicles are added to a single group at once.

Use the step-by-step guide below to learn how to add multiple vehicles to a group in bulk.

Confirming the Group Assignment

After adding a vehicle to a group, you can confirm the action directly from the Vehicles table. The name of the assigned group will appear in the Group column within the vehicle’s row.

This allows you to quickly verify that the vehicle has been successfully added to the intended group.

Important Notes

  • If the group you want to add the vehicle to already exists, make sure to enter the group name exactly as it appears — including spelling and spacing — to ensure the vehicle is added to the correct group.

  • If the group does not yet exist, entering a new name will create the group automatically. The newly created group’s name becomes its unique identifier.

  • You can update a vehicle’s group at any time by modifying the value in the Group field. This allows you to easily move vehicles between groups as operational needs change.

  • For better segmentation, it’s recommended to use tags in addition to vehicle groups. Tags allow you to further classify vehicles within the same group, making it easier to filter, manage, and operate large fleets efficiently.
