Groups allow you to organize drivers based on operational needs such as region, shift, or responsibility. Adding drivers to groups helps you manage your fleet more efficiently and apply group-based workflows across your operations.
For example, you can group drivers by delivery zone or team to simplify assignments and monitoring. This article explains how to add drivers to one or more groups from the Drivers page.
What has Changed
This feature replaces what was previously known as assigning Agents to Teams, while offering more flexibility and scalability.
How are Drivers Added to Groups
Drivers can be added to groups in two ways, based on whether you’re assigning one driver or several drivers at the same time:
Individual Assignment – Best used when adding or updating a single driver’s group.
Bulk Assignment – Best used when assigning multiple drivers to a group or updating the group of several drivers at once.
Identifying the Right Drivers
Before adding drivers to a group — either individually or in bulk — it’s recommended to first narrow down the list of drivers you want to work with. While optional, this step helps you stay organized and ensures the right drivers are assigned to the right group.
You can do this by using the search bar at the top right of the page or by applying filters to refine the list based on specific criteria.
Status (on duty, off duty, or disabled)
Vehicle (to group drivers using specific vehicle types)
Groups (to add drivers to or manage existing groups)
Tags (to group drivers sharing the same tag)
Skills (such as pickups, transfers, deliveries, or returns)
Using these filters helps you efficiently identify the intended drivers before assigning them to a group, especially when managing large fleets.
Add a Driver to a Group (Individual Assignment)
How It Works
This method is used when you need to assign or update the group of an existing driver, typically when making an operational change for a specific driver.
To update a driver’s group:
On the Drivers page, locate the driver you want to update.
Click the three horizontal dots ( … ) on the far right of the driver’s row.
Click Edit from the menu.
Enter the name of the group you want to assign the driver to.
Click Save to apply the changes.
This allows you to assign a driver to a group if they are not already part of one, or to update their existing group assignment.
Note: Drivers can also be assigned to a group during the initial creation process when adding them to your workspace.
Add Multiple Drivers to a Group (Bulk Assignment)
How it works:
This method is recommended when managing or onboarding multiple drivers at once, allowing you to assign them to a group efficiently in a single action:
On the Drivers page, locate and select the drivers you want to group.
Once selected, click the three vertical dots next to Off Duty at the top of the page, then choose Bulk Edit from the menu.
Note: When editing drivers in bulk, the panel opens with empty fields by default. Any value you enter will override the existing value for all selected drivers.
Enter the name of the group inside the Group field.
Finally, click Save to apply the changes and assign all selected drivers to the group at once.
Confirming the Group Assignment
After adding a driver to a group, you can confirm the action directly from the Drivers table. The name of the assigned group will appear in the Group column within the driver’s row, as shown in the table view.
This allows you to quickly verify that the driver has been successfully added to the intended group.
Important Notes:
If the group you want to add the driver to already exists, make sure to enter the group name exactly as it appears — including spelling and spacing — to ensure the driver is added to the correct group.
If the group does not yet exist, entering a new name will create the group automatically. The newly created group's name becomes its unique identifier.
You can update a driver’s group at any time by modifying the value in the Group field. This allows you to easily move drivers between groups as operational needs change.
For better segmentation, it’s recommended to use tags in addition to driver groups. Tags allow you to further classify drivers within the same group, making it easier to filter, manage, and operate large fleets efficiently.
