Adding Drivers to Groups

Updated today

Driver groups help you organize your fleet by categorizing drivers into logical groups such as regions, teams, skills, or operational units. Drivers can be added to groups in two ways, depending on whether you are managing a single driver or multiple drivers at once.

This article explains everything you need to know about adding drivers to groups, including both individual and bulk assignment methods.

⚠️ Important note

This feature replaces what was previously known as assigning Agents to Teams, while offering more flexibility and scalability.

How to Add Drivers to a Group

Drivers can be added to groups in two different ways, depending on your workflow and how many drivers you’re managing. Each method is designed to support a specific operational use case:

  • Individual Assignment – Best used when adding or updating a single driver. This method is ideal for onboarding new drivers, making one-off changes, or updating a driver’s group manually.

  • Bulk Assignment – Recommended when managing multiple drivers at once. This method is especially useful during onboarding, restructuring teams, or assigning large groups of drivers efficiently in one action.

Add a Driver to a Group (Individual Assignment)

🔗 Follow this step-by-step guide to discover how to add a driver to a group

How it works:

This method is used when you need to assign or update the group of a single driver, typically during onboarding or when making a specific operational change for one driver at a time.

You can assign a driver to a group in the following cases:

  • While adding a new driver to your workspace

  • When editing an existing driver, click the three horizontal dots (...) on the far right of their entry in the Drivers page and select Edit from the menu that appears.

This allows you to assign the driver to a group if they are not already part of one, or to update the group they currently belong to.

In both cases, you will use the driver information panel to manage the driver’s details.

  • Locate the Group field

  • Enter the name of the group you want to assign the driver to

  • Click Save to apply your changes

Add Multiple Drivers to a Group (Bulk Assignment)

🔗Follow this step-by-step guide to discover how to add multiple drivers to a group

How it works:

This method is recommended when managing or onboarding multiple drivers at once, allowing you to assign them to a group efficiently in a single action.

  • Inside the Drivers page, locate and select the drivers you want to group.

  • Once selected, click the three vertical dots next to Off Duty at the top of the page, then choose Bulk Edit from the menu that appears.

  • In the panel that opens, locate the Group field and enter the name of the group.

  • Finally, click Save to apply the changes and assign all selected drivers to the group at once.

Important Notes:

  • If the group you want to add the driver to already exists, make sure to enter the group name exactly as it appears — including spelling and spacing — to ensure the driver is added to the correct group.

  • If the group does not yet exist, entering a new name will create the group automatically.

  • When creating a new group, the group name becomes its unique identifier. To assign additional drivers to the same group later, the name must match exactly.

  • For better segmentation, it’s recommended to use tags in addition to driver groups. Tags allow you to further classify drivers within the same group, making it easier to filter, manage, and operate large fleets efficiently.
