Shipping Methods
Shipping methods are the type of shipping services offered by your organization.
They define how parcels flow (standard, on-demand, return, etc), fees or rates applied to each service type, the promise time and the geographic area coverage for each shipping method.
Step 1
To access the shipping methods page, first click on [Shipping Methods] in the settings page.
To add a new shipping method, click on [New Shipping Method] on the top right corner.
Add the shipping method details:
Name | Add a name for your shipping method. |
Type | Choose the type of your shipping method:
|
Lateness Threshold | The promised delivery time for a certain shipping method ( the time it should take from order creation to delivery ) |
Currency | The currency of the shipping fee to be collected from the merchant. |
Base fee | The base shipping fee for the type of service chosen. |
Weight Threshold | Specify for every type of shipping method the maximum accepted weight before applying a surcharge. |
Weight Surcharge (per additional kg) | If your package weight exceeds the weight threshold, specify an additional charge for every additional kg. |
Delivery Zone Surcharge | After creating delivery zones, you can assign them to shipping methods and add custom surcharges to each zone. |
Then click on [Save].
You may Edit, Deactivate and Remove the shipping method at any time.
Step 2
To manage the coverage of the shipping methods , first click on [Manage Coverage] on the top right corner in the Shipping Methods page.
Next, click on [Add Coverage] and drag on the map to select the area covered by this Shipping Method.
You may edit the coverage area at any time.
Every service type offered can have different coverage areas, for example you only deliver express within a small geographical region, while you deliver next day within a bigger one.
Setting up these coverage areas would assist in automation purposes to allow/deny orders to be shipped with certain shipping methods based on thee addresses.
Delivery Zones
Delivery zones allow you to create geographic zones that can be used for filtering purposes and they can be assigned to shipping methods in order to apply zone surcharges. (If the destination address falls inside a specific delivery zone, then an additional fee will apply.)
To set up these geographic areas, visit the delivery zone section and set up the delivery regions by drawing them on a map.
After they are drawn, from the shipping methods section you can specify the zones for each service type and identify the applicable surcharge.
