Managing Shipping Methods Coverage Areas

Shipping method coverage areas define the geographic regions where each shipping method can be applied—similar to a service that is only available within a specific delivery zone.

This article explains how to create, edit, and delete coverage areas for shipping methods directly from your FleetRunnr portal.

How it works

Think of a shipping method with its coverage area as a delivery service available within a defined geographic area. Coverage areas set these boundaries.

When assigning a shipping method to an order, it cannot be selected if the order’s destination falls outside that shipping method’s coverage area.

Creating a Coverage Area

You can create a coverage area to define where a specific Shipping Method applies geographically, using one of the following methods:

After saving, the coverage area will appear on the map, identified by its initials displayed at the center of the polygon. These same initials will also appear next to the location’s name in the panel on the left side of the screen.

Editing a Coverage Area

Editing a coverage area allows you to adjust where a shipping method is available as your operations evolve—whether expanding into new zones, restricting service in certain areas, or correcting mistakes made during the initial setup.

Note: You can completely delete a shipping method’s coverage area and redefine it from scratch—either by drawing a new polygon on the map or by searching for and selecting a new area.

Deleting a Coverage Area

Deleting a coverage area allows you to remove it when it’s no longer needed, stopping the shipping method from being limited to a specific geographic area.

If needed, you can later define a new coverage area from scratch—either by drawing it on the map or by searching for and selecting a new area.
