Once a location is created, you can optionally configure details like opening hours, roles, and service times to refine planning.
These settings affect how the Routing Engine evaluates timing, availability, and feasibility, while the essential setup remains in the General tab.
Important Note
The settings described in this article apply only when using the Planning module (auto-dispatch) to assign shipments to drivers.
When assigning shipments manually, these settings can be overridden and therefore do not impact the manual assignment flow.
Exception: Location Functions (Advanced tab) remain relevant even during manual shipment creation.
Opening Hours
You can define a location’s operating hours for each day of the week by creating time slabs, which represent the specific time windows during which the location is open and operational.
For a given day, you can create multiple time slabs—for example, 08:00–12:00 and 14:00–18:00—to reflect breaks, partial-day operations, or non-continuous working hours.
When a location has multiple opening-hour time windows (time slabs), you can assign a priority level to each time slab to control how the Routing Engine evaluates them during planning.
Priority levels are ordered from highest to lowest (top to bottom), with higher-priority slabs considered first to ensure deliveries are scheduled within the most critical operating periods.
Advanced Settings
Configure how the location operates within your workflow and define which vehicles are allowed or restricted from serving it:
Location Functions
Define the role of the location in your workflow (e.g., Pickup, Transfer, Delivery, Return). A location can have one or multiple functions.Allowed Vehicle Types
Select which vehicle types can operate at this location (e.g., Bicycle, Car, Van, Truck).Prohibited Vehicles
Restrict specific vehicles from operating at this location by selecting from the vehicles you have already added to your workspace (identified by their plate numbers).External ID
Assign an external ID from an integrated system to keep location data synchronized across both systems.
Service Time
Set the average service time (in seconds) for each shipment type at this location.
For every type (pickup, transfer, delivery, return), you can define separate times depending on whether the location is the source or the destination of the shipment.
This reflects how long drivers typically spend at the location in each scenario and helps the routing engine generate more accurate ETAs and route plans.
Additional Notes
You can configure these settings during location creation or edit them later as your operations evolve.
These settings are optional and can be configured based on your needs. The essential setup to add a location is completed in the General tab.
